About
Chef PETER SIDWELL celebrates some of the best British eating on a culinary adventure in the Lake District.
The Lakes On A Plate follows the Cumbrian chef and cafè owner as he cooks his way around the Lake District seeking out local produce and demonstrating how to cook dishes from his Lake District home. While exploring the breathtaking scenery of the Lakes - Peter discovers cheese that tastes like parmesan, homemade black pudding and locally caught wild salmon and herbs.
The Lake District, a national park famous around the world for its outstanding natural beauty, is also an area steeped in a rich culinary history; from the origins of Nut Monday', when entire families took to the hedgerows to forage for nuts, to fishing for mackerel off the west coast. The Lakes On A Plate discovers the tastes and personalities that make the region truly unique.
Each episode sees Peter don his walking boots and set off on a culinary ramble along one of the region's iconic walks in search of mouth-watering ingredients to cook with. Back home, he cooks up delicious, simple to follow recipes using fantastic ingredients and freshly crafted produce discovered on his travels.
